Northbound 405 Freeway In Sepulveda Pass Reopens Ahead Of Schedule
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A portion of the 405 Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass reopened ahead of schedule on Sunday after being closed for construction overnight.
Northbound lanes of the highway from Getty Center Drive through the 101 Freeway reopened by 7:45 a.m.
The closure, which went into effect at 11 p.m. Saturday, was expected to last until 9 a.m.
Art Barron, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, says crews were able to go underneath the Mulholland Bridge and remove the temporary reinforcements from the newly constructed south side.
Many motorists in Sherman Oaks used Sepulveda Boulevard as an alternate route.
The closure was in preparation for "Carmageddon II," a 52-hour closure scheduled to begin on Sept. 29.
