2 Suspects In Custody Following Dangerous Chase, Carjacking In North Hollywood
NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA) – An erratic police chase ended after a suspect carjacked a vehicle and crashed into a police cruiser Monday night.
The chase, which started just before 7:30 p.m., winded through North Hollywood and Burbank as a driver swerved around cars on the 5 Freeway and on residential streets.
Sky9 was over the chase where the vehicle nearly hit several cars.
At one point, the driver cut in front of a car on a residential road and crashed into a trash can.
Los Angeles police said officers were pursuing a murder suspect inside the silver sedan.
Two suspects bailed from the car during the chase, and one has reportedly been taken into custody.
The driver later stopped at a dead end near a park and took off running.
He was seen moments later running over a pedestrian bridge over the 170 Freeway before running up to an SUV. The driver of that vehicle jumped out as the suspect got into the vehicle on the passenger side.
The suspect sped off before slamming head-on into a patrol car around 8:05 p.m. and being surrounded by officers.
He was taken into custody after exiting the vehicle with his hands up.
Police said the suspect is a known gang member and was wanted for murder but have not released information on the killing.
