Norovirus Strikes California Delegate Staffers At GOP Convention
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Several staffers of the California Republican delegation have fallen ill with what is believed to be a norovirus, officials said Tuesday.
California Delegation Executive Director Cynthia Bryant confirmed at least one member of the delegation was ill, but as many as a dozen delegates were sick with a similar virus, according to CBS San Francisco reporter Doug Sovern.
Fears of a further spread of the virus had reportedly caused some delegate staffers to stop shaking hands with other delegates, according to Sovern.
None of the actual delegates, who are staying at the Kalahri water resort about 60 miles from Cleveland, have been affected so far, CBS2's Dave Bryan reported.
Any delegation members with symptoms of vomiting or diarrhea were asked to contact California GOP officials and refrain from riding the bus with the rest of the delegation.
