NoHo Man Keeps Police At Bay For Hours After Threatening To Kill His Mother, Himself

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — A man who allegedly threatened to kill his mother and commit suicide barricaded himself inside a home in North Hollywood Friday.

The standoff began just before 1 p.m. in the 12800 block of Burbank Boulevard, according to Richard French of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police said the suspect's mother told them he was a drug addict and that he threatened to kill her and himself.

French said the woman was able to get out of the home safely, but police blocked off streets in the neighborhood as they tried to coax the suspect out of the house.

The man was taken into custody around 4 p.m.

The suspect's name and age were not readily available.

Burbank Boulevard was closed between Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Bellaire Avenue throughout the incident.
