NoHo Man, 46 Charged With Attempted Murder-Suicide, Making Criminal Threats
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities have formally charged a 46-year-old North Hollywood man with attempted murder-suicide following an alleged domestic violence incident Wednesday.
José María Robles faces two counts of attempted murder and one count of criminal threats.
Officials said during a fight in his condo Wednesday, Robles discharged a rifle and caused great bodily injury to his wife.
Robles also shot himself, authorities said. He also allegedly shot at a neighbor prior to attempting to kill himself.
Arraignment was scheduled for Friday in LA County Superior Court's Van Nuys branch. Deputy District Attorney Matthew Vodnoy is representing LA County.
Robles' wife survived her injuries. The defendant is accused of then going to a neighbor's house and shooting at the neighbor, prosecutors added.
After shooting at his neighbor, Robles reportedly shot himself in the chest but survived, Vodnoy said. The neighbor was unharmed.
The DA requested a bail of more than $3 million.
Robles faces a possible maximum sentence of life in state prison if convicted on all charges.
