Newport Beach Man Killed In Hot Rod Accident On 101 Freeway
THOUSAND OAKS (CBS) — A man was killed while driving a vintage 1930s hot rod along the northbound 101 Freeway Friday morning.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner identified the man as Eric Doran, 36, of Newport Beach.
The accident between Doran's Model A Roadster and at least one one other vehicle happened around 5:30 a.m. on the 101 Freeway near Rancho Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. Doranwas ejected from the vehcile during the crash, his passenger suffered major injuries, while third victim was hospitalized with minor injuries, according to the CHP.
The collision shut down two northbound lanes on the freeway were closed while the CHP investigated. Officials are unsure of what triggered the crash.
Doran was the owner of Eat Chow restaurant in Costa Mesa.
