New York Times E-mail List Hacked, Subscribers Told Service Has Been Canceled
LOS ANGELES (KNX 1070) — If you order The New York Times you need to be on the lookout for a spam e-mail that's circulating the web.
People all over Los Angeles and the nation who subscribe to The New York Times have been getting an e-mail claiming that their subscription has been canceled. The e-mail offers 50 percent off for 16 weeks if the subscriber reconsiders and tells them to call a special number and mention a given promo code.
A KNX 1070 reporter tried calling the number but it was busy because of the high volume of calls.

Eventually, a phone representative answered and said they were trying to figure out what was going on.
All morning Wednesday, the newspaper has been replying to followers on their <a href="Twitter account" target="_blank">Twitter account: "The email was not sent from The New York Times."
The bottom line -- if you get this e-mail that claims to be from The New York Times do not do anything. Don't even open the e-mail.
