New Sherman Oaks Park Opens For Children With Disabilities
SHERMAN OAKS (CBS) — The traditional sandbox gave way to a new design concept for a playground, accessible to all children, in Sherman Oaks Thursday.
The non-profit group, Shane's Inspiration, opened a Universally Accessible Playground at 14201 Huston St.
Shane's Inspiration worked with the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks to build the 19th UAP in the city. The first and largest UAP was built in 1998 in Griffith Park.
Shane's Inspiration's designs are sensory rich, serving the needs of children with cerebral palsy, autism, blindness and Down syndrome, as well as those children with specific sensory disorders.
