New Lead In Hit-And-Run Crash That Left 2-Year-Old Girl On Life Support
SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Authorities have revealed a vehicle of interest in connection to a hit-and-run crash that gravely injured a 2-year-old girl in San Bernardino.
The accident happened Sunday evening in the 2400 block of N. Mountain View Avenue.
The victim, identified as Asianae Thomas, was playing outside a relative's home when she was struck.
The suspect fled following the collision.
Detectives have released a photo of a dark-colored, flatbed truck that was taken off a security camera at a local convenience store just south of the scene of the crime.
The vehicle, which has a unique service bed, turned northbound just one minute before police started receiving 911 calls.
"He could've stopped. He had time to stop. You have time to stop when you see all these people. My husband…he ran after the truck. My other cousin, she was there when it happened," the victim's relative, Felicia Jones, said. "We just want this guy…whoever he was, whoever she was…because we didn't see a face…to just turn yourself in."
Thomas is on life support at Loma Linda University Medical Center, leaving her parents devastated.
"She's a very happy little girl, very outgoing person, she loved to play outside," father Anton Thomas said.
"She was my world. He took her away from me," mother Erika Hannah said. "He needs to come out and tell the world what he did to my baby…because he killed her. I miss my baby!"
