Neighborhood Shooting Prompts School Lockdown In Hemet
HEMET (AP) — A Riverside County elementary school was locked down after a shooting in the neighborhood, but officials say nothing happened on campus and some students already have been sent home.
Karen Ashman in the school district superintendent's office says Little Lake Elementary School was sealed at about 10:30 a.m. Friday after a gunfire report.
Ashman says someone fired a shot while being served with an eviction notice, although details are sketchy.
More than 500 children were kept inside as a precaution, although they could use restrooms under escort.
Ashman says kindergartners were allowed to go home about an hour later -- at their usual time -- after it was determined there was no armed suspect loose.
