NCAA Bids Could Be On The Line As UW Comes To So Cal
SEATTLE (AP) -- Lorenzo Romar usually isn't so blunt when analyzing where his team stands.
But when the Washington coach was asked this week if his Huskies have improved throughout the season the way he would like, Romar was straightforward.
Romar says, "I don't think we've progressed nearly as much as we needed to," as the Huskies find themselves riding a tenuous line.
They've lost two straight conference games and are 3-5 in league play after starting the season 7-1.
For the first time in school history, Washington was the preseason favorite in the Pac-10 but now enters the final weekend of the regular season with no shot at the league title.
And if the Huskies aren't careful this weekend against surging UCLA and USC, their NCAA tournament fate might become a little shaky.
