Narcotics Detective Accused Of 2 Attacks On His Live-In Girlfriend

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Prosecutors say a Los Angeles police narcotics detective has been arrested and charged in two separate attacks on his live-in girlfriend.

The district attorney's office says 49-year-old Richard Womack was taken into custody Wednesday by Long Beach police. He's charged with multiple felony counts including domestic violence, making criminal threats and false imprisonment by violence.

Last October, prosecutors say Womack struck the woman with a knife and threatened her with a gun. Last month, Womack allegedly fought with the woman in front of her friends and threatened her with a piece of wood.

Womack is being held on $450,000 bail pending his arraignment on Friday. He faces up to 19 years in prison if convicted of all counts.
