BEL AIR (CBS) — Former first lady Nancy Reagan Sunday mourned the death of her friend of 75 years, CBS newsman Mike Wallace.
"My heart is broken today over the death of my dear friend, Mike Wallace," Reagan said in a statement. "My parents introduced me to Mike more than 75 years ago, and we've been fast friends ever since.
"Mike was on old school journalist and one of the most astute people I've ever met," she said.
"The news business will be a different place now, and our lives will be forever changed for having known him."
Wallace and Nancy Davis were friends at the time that Wallace was working as an announcer, commercial pitchman and game show host for various Los Angeles broadcasting companies.
