Murrieta Man To Be Arraigned In Murder Of Police Officer Wife
MURRIETA (CBS/AP) — A Riverside County man will be arraigned Friday afternoon in the murder of his wife, who was an Escondido police officer.
Freddy Perez-Rodas, 27, was scheduled to make his first court appearance at 1:30 p.m. after he was arrested Wednesday in Murrieta on suspicion of murder, arson and child endangerment.
Police say Perez-Rodas admitted to killing Laura Perez, 25, on July 23 during a domestic dispute at their home and then dumping her body in a Moreno Valley storage locker.
He is also accused of starting multiple fires inside the family home to cover up the crime.
The couple's 4-year-old daughter was not hurt in the incident and is staying with other family members.
Perez-Rodas is being held on $2 million.
The Escondido Police Officer's Association said Perez graduated from the police academy in December.
