Murder Suspect Leads Police On Brief Chase

LOS ANGELES (CBS) —  A man who allegedly killed a woman just south of downtown Los Angeles Wednesday afternoon led police on a roughly half-hour chase that ended about a block from the scene of the crime, police said.

The driver of a silver-colored Ford Expedition came to a stop on 27th Street just west of Maple Avenue about 1:35 p.m., and he got out the vehicle and face-down on the pavement to be arrested. He reportedly threw a gun out the window during the chase.

Police with the Media Relations Section were able to confirm that someone was killed, but no names were made available. According to broadcast reports, the victim was a woman.

Police said the shooting occurred near Maple and Adams Boulevard shortly after 1 p.m., and the chase started a few minutes later.
