Murder Suspect Injured In Officer-Involved Shooting At Long Beach Gas Station
LONG BEACH (CBS) — A 60-year-old murder suspect was shot by Long Beach police Thursday morning.
Police patrolling the area near Pacific Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway heard shots fired around midnight.
They then found a fatally injured shooting victim at a Mobil gas station. The alleged gunman fired at officers as he attempted to run from the scene, which prompted them to return fire.
Both the suspect and the 30-year-old shooting victim were transported to a local hospital, where the victim was pronounced dead. The suspect remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Pacific Avenue is closed north of Pacific Coast Highway as authorities investigate both shootings.
The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office is also expected to probe the officer-involved shooting.
