Portion Of 10 Fwy Reopens In Mid-City Following Multi-Vehicle Fatal Crash
MID-CITY (CBSLA.com) — Officers Monday investigated the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash that involved multiple vehicles in Los Angeles.
Shortly before 4 a.m., officers were sent to the 10 Freeway at La Brea Avenue for report of a traffic collision.
Upon their arrival, police located three cars involved in a collision on the freeway, according to California Highway Patrol.
A 64-year-old male driver of a 1999 Toyota Camry was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.
No other injuries were reported.
A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a 1999 Mazda Miata lost control of the vehicle and traveled across the center divide onto the main portion of the freeway. The Camry then collided with the Miata.
A 2013 Toyota FRS then collided with the Toyota Camry. Officers said the impact caused the driver of to sustain fatal injuries.
Officials closed the eastbound lanes of the freeway. The SigAlert was lifted shortly after 7 a.m., when all lanes reopened on the freeway.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
