Mudslide Closes 91 Freeway In Anaheim
ANAHEIM (CBS) — A mudslide closed two eastbound lanes on the Riverside
(91) Freeway on Wednesday just west of Green River Drive, causing an extensive traffic backup.
Problems started about 11:30 a.m. and, within about 30 minutes, the two right lanes were covered in about 6 inches of mud, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Gabe Montoya.
The highway patrol expects to re-open the lanes by about 3 p.m., Montoya said.
The freeway is the main route between Riverside and Orange County, and the slide slowed eastbound traffic.
"It's backed up pretty good now that we're getting into the regular commute," Montoya said.
