MTA Begins Countdown To Carmageddon II With Online Ticker
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has created an official online countdown to the second "Carmageddon" -- which will close the San Diego (405) Freeway in September.
"Countdown to the Closure II" consists of a banner ad and an online clock counting down the number of days, hours, minutes and seconds before the closure as a reminder to "Plan Ahead, Avoid the Area, or Eat, Shop and Play Locally" in order to avoid massive traffic jams.
Find the countdown here.
The closure will again block the Sepulveda Pass. Ramps along the 10-mile route will shut down as early as 7 p.m. on Sept. 28 and lanes will all be closed by 10 p.m. to make sure the full closure occurs by midnight.
The freeway is scheduled to remain closed until 5 a.m. on Oct. 1. Ramps and connectors are scheduled to reopen by 6 a.m.
All freeway on-ramps in the Pass, along with Mulholland Bridge, will be closed.
