Mourning A Music Legend: Fans Leave Candles, Flowers On David Bowie's Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star
HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Devoted fans Monday are mourning the loss of music legend David Bowie.
In Hollywood, flowers, candles and glitter have been left on and around Bowie's Hollywood Walk of Fame star as a tribute to the late singer.
"David Bowie has meant a lot to me since I was a little child," a fan who goes by the name of Sammy explained to CBS2's Jasmine Viel. "This is devastating."
Bowie's agent, Steven Martin, confirmed the iconic singer died Sunday at the age of 69, according to CBS News in London. He is survived by his two children.
Bowie "died peacefully surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer," Martin said in a written statement on the artist's verified social media accounts.

His son, film director Duncan Jones, confirmed his father's passing just before 11 p.m. on Sunday.
Meanwhile, tributes and condolences have poured in from dozens of friends, admirers and celebrities.

The singer/songwriter and producer was born in Brixton, London by the name of David Robert Jones in 1947. He later referred to himself as David Bowie in order to not be confused with Davey Jones of "The Monkees."
The music legend first achieved fame in the early 70s. Bowie excelled in pop, hard rock, dance pop, punk and metal.
Some of his biggest hits include "Ziggy Stardust," "China Girl," "Let's Dance," "Changes," "Life on Mars," "Heroes," "Young Americans," "Space Oddity," "Oh, You Pretty Things," "Suffragette City," "Modern Love," "Fame," "Golden Years" and "Under Pressure."
In 1996, he was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame.
Outside of his career in the music industry, Bowie took part as an actor. Some of his credits include "The Man Who Fell to Earth," "Just a Gigolo," "The Hunger," "Labyrinth," "Basquiat" and "The Last Temptation of Christ."
He even had some uncredited writing jobs on the TV hit series "American Horror Story," according to IMDB.com.
At the time of his death, Bowie was married to supermodel Iman. The couple married in 1992.
Bowie turned 69 on Friday, the same day he released his latest album called "Blackstar."
In his career, he is believed to have sold more than 140 million albums.
