IDYLLWILD (CBSLA.com) — An electrical equipment failure on private property caused the Mountain Fire, which has burned more than 27,500 acres in the Idyllwild area.
The incident happened on the "customer side of the meter," according to a statement from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
No other information was released.
The blaze in the San Bernardino National Forest, which was 92 percent contained Thursday morning, was expected to reach full containment by Friday, said the U.S. Forest Service.
The fire claimed 23 structures, including seven homes, and evacuated thousands from their residences.
