Motorcyclist Killed, Van Passenger Seriously Hurt In North Hills Crash

NORTH HILLS (CBSLA.com)  —    A motorcyclist was killed and van passenger seriously hurt after a crash Sunday afternoon in North Hills, authorities said.

The crash took place shortly after 2 p.m. at 15100 Nordhoff St. near Noble Avenue, according to LAFD spokesperson Brian Humphrey,

Firefighters on scene found the adult motorcyclist dead following a collision between the biker and the passenger side of a van that was carrying three people, Humphrey said.

A 19-year-old woman who was sitting in the van's front passenger seat was trapped inside the  vehicle for nearly 20 minutes before she was extricated. She was taken to a hospital in serious condition, he said.

The female driver of the van and a male passenger were not injured, Humphrey said.

The intersection of Nordhoff Street and Noble Avenue remained closed for several hours in all directions while the LAPD investigated the cause of the crash.
