Motorcyclist Killed On 215 Freeway By Wrong-Way Suspect In Stolen Truck Fleeing Police
SAN BERNARDINO (AP) — Authorities say a man fleeing police in a stolen pickup truck entered a Southern California freeway going the wrong way and hit and killed a man on a motorcycle.
San Bernardino police spokesman Lt. Jarrod Burguan says the man escaped on foot after the Saturday crash on Interstate 215, which remained shut down for most of the afternoon.
Burguan says a man noticed his pickup being stolen in San Bernardino 60 miles east of Los Angeles shortly after noon, pursued it in another vehicle and called 911.
Police attempted to stop the truck but the suspect entered the northbound lanes of the freeway traveling south and hit the motorcyclist head-on.
Police say the rider was a 47-year-old man from Riverside. His name has not been released.
