Motorcyclist Killed Fleeing From CHP

MISSION VIEJO (CBS) — Officials said Wednesday that a motorcyclist fleeing from California Highway Patrol officers crashed and was killed on the (5) Freeway in Mission Viejo.

CHP said the cyclist often went in excess of 100 mph.

He was identified as Javan Booth, 34, of Irvine.

Booth was headed north when he collided with a Ford Explorer near La Paz Road. He veered off the freeway and was thrown from the bike, according to the CHP.

An officer spotted Booth going more than 100 mph near Cristianitos Road and tried to stop him, according to the CHP.

Booth refused to stop, and officers chased him until he collided with the SUV. Booth died at the scene.

No one in the SUV was hurt.
