Motorcyclist Dies After Evading CHP Officer

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A man was killed early Thursday morning while trying to evade a CHP officer in South Los Angeles.

The crash was reported at 12:46 a.m. at El Segundo Boulevard and South Hoover Street, according to California Highway Patrol.

The motorcyclist was fleeing law enforcement on Hoover and collided with a van that was heading westbound on El Segundo.

He was pronounced dead at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles police Lt. Brian Whitten of the South Traffic Division said.

Several lanes of El Segundo remained blocked at 4 a.m., CHP Officer Patrick Kimball said.
