Motorcycle Accident Causes PCH Shut Down
MALIBU (CBS) — A motorcyclist was struck and killed tonight, causing a shut down on the Pacific Coast Highway.
According to police, the crash occurred about 8:45 p.m. at 27400 Pacific Coast Highway -- Paradise Cove - near Zuma Beach at Paradise Cove. The motorcyclist was struck by a car driving out of the parking lot of Geoffrey's restaurant in Malibu. Caltrans has closed the PCH in both directions near the collision site. Northbound lanes will soon be open but Southbound lanes are expected to be closed for most of the night. Traffic is being diverted up Latimer Canyon Road and Canyon Dune Road.
The motorcycle rider, identified as 41-year-old Joseph Annocki of Malibu, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 50-year-old Terry Turner, was given a sobriety test and was not found to be intoxicated, Thompson said. Turner and his passenger Donna Martin, 47, were visiting Southern California.
