Mother Shot In Garden Grove Home Invasion Robbery

GARDEN GROVE (CBSLA.com) — Police were called to an Orange County home Friday where four armed men shot a mother in the neck in front of her two infant girls.

The incident took place just after 11 a.m. in the 11500 block of West Street, according to the Garden Grove Police Department.

A neighbor called police and said the suspects, all armed with revolvers and wearing gloves and ski masks, were burglarizing the residence.

"The guys came out, jumped in the van and they left," the neighbor, who asked not to be identified, told CBS2/KCAL9 reporter Michele Gile.

The suspects were last seen heading southbound on West Street in a white van.

Neighbors say it wasn't the first time they've seen the men or the van.

"It's just shocking because this neighborhood? We're right by Disneyland. It's weird," another neighbor, Tiffany Lee, said.

Officers arrived to find a 29-year-old woman suffering a gunshot wound to the neck, near the spinal cord.

The two babies inside were unharmed. Officers removed them from the home.

Two family members, a 70-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, were found with their hands zip-tied behind their backs.

The mother was transported to UCI Medical Center. She was listed in critical condition and expected to survive.

It is unknown if any property was taken from the home.
