Opaque definitely offers one of the most unusual dining experiences in Los Angeles. Patrons are expected to eat in a completely dark room while being served by legally blind waiters and waitresses. You order your meal in a lighted lobby outside, and are escorted into the dark room by your waiter. The experience of eating in the dark supposedly helps sharpen the taste buds. Customers reportedly end up resorting to eating with their hands after struggling with utensils.

Everything edible in this restaurant is made out of garlic. With a location in Beverly Hills, their décor is as unique as their menu options. With romantic tents for dining and garlic-themed rooms, they even serve garlic ice cream. Try the garlic mash and the prime ribs for a absolutely divine dining experience. Be sure to bring some gum if you're on a date.

Encounter Restaurant is an alien themed eatery located outside the main terminal of LAX. It's a bit cheesy, with 70s décor that is Space Mountain meets The Jetsons. The elevator ride even comes equipped with alien sound effects. The restaurant gives a great panoramic view of the airport and the surrounding areas of Los Angeles.

A haven for Los Angeles hipsters, Forage literally forages. They have a "We Forage" option where you give them the best of your backyard. They'll take the produce off your hands if they like it and make a dish with your stuff. You'll get dining credit and a picture of you will be uploaded online for the world to see. The restaurant is all about local food and sustainability.

Royal T-Café is an art gallery, shop and café rolled into one. The waitresses are dressed up in cosplay and the food is a unique fusion of Japanese and French texture. Located in Culver City along Washington Boulevard, this eclectic café has great tea and cute décor reminiscent of Japan. Inspired by the maid Cafes of Tokyo's Akihabara district, Royal/T is Los Angeles' first cosplay café.
