Moreno Valley Walmart Evacuated After Reports Of Man With Gun
MORENO VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A 24-hour Walmart store in Moreno Valley was evacuated Monday morning due to a gun scare, authorities said.
A call of a suspicious person wearing camouflage at the store came into officials at 5:57 a.m., the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said.
Several witnesses reported seeing the man carrying a rifle or shot gun as he walked to the store manager's office.
According to surveillance video, the suspect was also wearing a trench coat and appeared to be carrying a brief case.
"We are still unclear of what transpired between that individual and the store manager," a deputy told KNX 1070.
Authorities believe the suspect exited the rear of the building and no shots were fired.
The sheriff's department closed the store and set up a perimeter. A K-9 unit also responded.
The outstanding suspect was last seen in a nearby field, according to officials.
No injuries were reported.
The store, located at 12721 Moreno Beach Drive, reopened around 10:45 a.m.
