More Than A Dozen English Bulldogs Rescued From 'Deplorable' Conditions At Baldwin Park Home
BALDWIN PARK (CBSLA.com) — A tip led officials to a home in Baldwin Park, where they found more than a dozen English Bulldogs living in shocking conditions.
"They were in pretty deplorable conditions. I didn't observe any food or water. A lot of the cages had some cobwebs over the top of the cages. There was fecal matter throughout the garage. They were all housed separately. There was no social interaction between the dogs," said Animal Control manager Lance Hunter.
Animal Control officers suspect the dogs' owners were running a breeding operation.
A veterinarian checked out the 15 dogs, three of which are puppies, and found signs of ingrown claws and minor infections. Two of the adult females are pregnant.
Hunter said English Bulldogs require special care, including cleaning between the folds of their skin to prevent skin disease.
If the owners are charged and convicted of animal cruelty the dogs may go up for adoption.
The Bulldogs are being held at the Baldwin Park animal shelter.
