More Rain Expected In 2nd Day Of Summer Storm In California
LOS ANGELES (AP) — More rain is expected in the second day of a summer storm that's brought beach closures, flash floods and power outages to Southern California.
National Weather Service meteorologist David Sweet says the region is expected to again receive scattered showers Sunday as remnants of a tropical storm off Baja California brings warm muggy conditions northward.
Los Angeles County's beaches reopened Saturday night after the threat of lightning strikes forced authorities to close 70 miles of beaches.
AJ Lester of the Los Angeles County Fire Department's Lifeguard Division says beaches are open but he's in touch with weather officials and tracking reports of afternoon rain.
The storm helped firefighters advance on two wildfires that broke out in the region Friday.
Muggy conditions are expected to persist through Monday.
