Precautionary Lockdown Lifted On Schools In Moorpark

MOORPARK (CBSLA.com) — Multiple schools were placed on precautionary lockdown Monday while officials searched for a student.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department, a "general threat" was left on the Moorpark Unified School District's voice mail at some point Sunday night, and was directed at Moorpark High School.

A preliminary investigation revealed that two other schools may have been included in the original threat.

As a precaution, Sycamore Canyon School and Walnut Canyon School were placed on lockdown.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m., school officials posted to Twitter that there was no imminent danger to students at the school.

It remains unclear if the student that officials are searching for is believed to have left the threatening message.

The lockdown was lifted from all schools shortly before noon, and classes resumed.
