MLB Will Not Suspend Dodgers OF Puig Under New Domestic Violence Policy
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The MLB found no evidence against Yasiel Puig in the investigation looking into whether or not he struck his sister in a bar last year.
Under the league's new domestic violence policy, commissioner Rob Manfred is authorized to suspend or discipline a player even if he is not charged with a crime.
While no charges were filed against Puig, TMZ reported last October that Puig pushed his sister, which ultimately triggered a brawl inside a bar in Miami.
Yankees pitcher Aroldis Chapman was recently suspended for 30 games under the league's new policy, and Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes is currently on paid leave while the court determines a case in which he is charged with abusing his wife.
This is great news for the Dodgers, who hope Puig can rebound from an injury-riddled 2015 season.
While there is no evidence at the moment, the league can reopen the investigation at any point in the future, should more evidence come out.
