LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) - The Yankees could be is some trouble which involves New Jersey native and Angels outfielder Mike Trout.
It all revolves around a comment Yankee President Randy Levine made Friday at a press conference introducing his newest player Jacoby Ellsbury.
A reporter asked Levine why he didn't offer 31-year old Robinson Cano a long-term contract.
"If it was Mike Trout, I would offer him a ten-year contract," said the Yankee President. "But for people over 30, I don't believe it makes sense."
According to MLB rules, club officials are not allowed to talk about players under contract to other teams.
So after Levine made the comments about Trout, Bill Shaikin of the LA Times is reporting that MLB will plan to investigate Yankee President to see if 'they constitute tampering."
