Mitt Romney Attends $1K A Plate Fundraiser At Beverly Hilton
BEVERLY HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney attended a big fundraiser at a hotel in Beverly Hills on Saturday.
The $1,000 a plate 5 p.m. fundraiser took place at The Beverly Hilton on Wilshire Boulevard.
Art Barron, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, spoke to supporters outside the hotel.
Specifically, he spoke to a group called "Pacific Islanders For Romney."
Seiulito Meni said, "We want people throughout the country to know that the Republican party is not monolithic. It is not one race. It is not one color. It is not one socio-economic group."
Romney told his supporters inside, "I know what it takes to get an economy going. I didn't just study small business. I lived small business. I know what it takes."
Romney supporter Mike Murphy told Barron why he was attending. "I just wanted to hear an affirmation of what his policies have been all along," said Murphy, "and that he has a plan to deal with the economy and that he can have a good foreign policy to kind of get rid of or at least alleviate some of the problems we're having here until now."
A group of President Obama's supporters also showed up to protest Romney's appearance. Eric Bauman, chair of the LA Democratic Party said, he was there to remind Mitt Romney that President Obama's agenda favors all Americans and Romney's 14.1% tax rate is well below the average American's rate.
Earlier Saturday, after a fundraiser in San Francisco Romney arrived in San Diego for a 2 p.m. fundraiser in Del Mar.
