Son Arrested For Murder Of Mother Found Dead In Mission Viejo Home
MISSION VIEJO (CBSLA) –Authorities have arrested the son of a woman they believe was murdered after her body was discovered in her Mission Viejo home late Tuesday night.
Charlie Mosby, 36, was arrested in connection to the death of his mother, 69-year-old Marie Mosby. He was booked into the Orange County jail.
According to the O.C. Sheriff's Department, at around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Charlie Mosby's brother reported their mother Marie Mosby missing. When deputies responded to her home on Cipres, they discovered her dead.
On Wednesday afternoon, the sheriff's department confirmed to CBSLA that Charlie Mosby had been arrested. There was no immediate word on the cause of death.
Charlie lived at the home with Marie, CBSLA learned.
"This is such a shock to me," said Lorri Marcial, a neighbor. "I just can't imagine anything like this happening. I just can't imagine him doing anything to his mother because he just adores his mother."
Another neighbor told CBSLA she had not seen Marie doing her usual backyard chores for a few weeks now.
"I don't know," said Beth Hamm, a neighbor. "The police said there's no threat to the community."
A motive in the alleged murder has not yet been released.
