Mission Viejo Travels To Jersey To Face Nations Top High School Team
Mission Viejo (Calif.) at No. 1 Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.)
Mission Viejo doesn't need to concern itself with what happened the last time a California team traveled cross-country to play Don Bosco Prep. There's reason to believe Diablos have enough offensive weapons to avoid a fate similar to Don Bosco's 30-6 beatdown of De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) in 2009. Mission Viejo has an experienced offensive line paving the way for 215-pound USC-committed running back Jahleel Pinner and a savvy senior quarterback in Alex Bridgford, who threw four touchdowns passes in a 35-6 rout of Centennial (Bakersfield) last week.
Don Bosco Prep's win over De La Salle kicked off a 12-0 season that culminated in the school's first national poll championship. This year, the Ironmen began the season ranked No. 1. They have 13 total returning starters including several future FBS recruits. Defensive lineman Darius Hamilton, receiver Leonte Carroo and defensive back Yuri Wright are part ofMaxPreps' Top 100 recruits for the Class of 2012. Don Bosco Prep enters the year with a 35-game winning streak. It has won 14 of its last 15 games against out-of-state opponents.
