Mother Jailed After Missing Children Are Found Safe In Brea
BREA (CBSLA.com) — Two children from Exposition Park who were the subject of an Amber Alert last week were found safe Saturday, and their mother is in jail, according to police.
Brea police Lt. Santo Porto said the children were found Saturday night in a parking lot off Imperial Highway, near Valencia Street, and "somebody was arrested." Ameenah Rasheedah Freeman, 37, was being held Sunday on $80,000 bail at the Los Angeles Police Department's Metropolitan Detention Center.
The children, Adoniah, 9, and Emanuel, 8, were taken from their grandmother's home in the 1700 block of West 35th Place on Monday afternoon by Freeman, who is their biological mother, according to the LAPD. Freeman's mother is the children's guardian, police have said.
Freeman briefly returned to her mother's home without the children on Wednesday night, but left after someone called 911 and officers were sent to to the residence, police said.
