Michigan State, Stanford Fans Turn Out In Full Force For Rose Bowl Game
PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — Fan energy was high as Stanford's and Michigan State's football teams geared up for the 100th Rose Bowl Game Wednesday.
CBS2/KCAL9 reporter Bobby Kaple spoke to fans tailgating outside the stadium Wednesday.
"What's the key to winning the Bowl?" Kaple said to a group of Stanford fans.
"Ground and pound," one man replied.
Stanford's team, ranked fifth nationwide, made it to the Bowl after a 38-14 victory over Arizona State in the Pac-12 title game.
Michigan State is making its first-ever appearance at the Bowl Jan. 1 after edging out Ohio State in the Big 10 Championship game.
Tailgaters hailing from the Midwest were enjoying the sunny weather in Pasadena.
"It's gorgeous," a Michigan State fan said. "It's snowing and 20 degrees in Detroit right now."
