Mentally Disabled Man, 19, Missing In Anaheim
ANAHEIM (CBS) — Police in Anaheim are on the lookout for a 19-year-old man with the mental capacity of a young child.
Miguel Grijalva disappeared Thursday afternoon, after his caregiver got distracted when one of the two other disabled adults under her charge had an anxiety attack while all four were aboard a bus, Anaheim police Sgt. Rick Martinez said.
Police said Grijalva has the mental capacity of a 4-year-old.
Grijalva and two other disabled young adults were en route with the caregiver to a school in Buena Park at the time, Martinez said.
When the caregiver and the two other students got off the bus at 3:30 p.m. on La Palma Avenue in Anaheim, they realized Grijalva was gone, Martinez said.
Anaheim investigators think Grijalva got off the bus on his own and are working with Buena Park police and the Orange County Transportation Authority to find the young man, who lives in a boarding facility in Anaheim, Martinez said.
Grijalva is 5-foot-6, weighs 230 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a T-shirt with the Volcom logo on the front and dark blue jeans, the sergeant said.
