Mega Millions Jackpot Swells To $27 M

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  — Imagine the holiday gifts you could buy with $27 million.

Someone might get the chance to win that amount Tuesday when the next numbers are drawn in the Mega Millions jackpot.

No ticket matched all six numbers in Friday evening's multi-state draw.

Four tickets -- two sold in Ohio and one each in Maryland and Virginia -- had five numbers, but none of those tickets had the Mega number. Each of the so-called 5/5 tickets are worth $250,000, according to a California Lottery official.

The numbers drawn Friday evening were 7, 43, 44, 51, 56 and the Mega number was 4. The jackpot was $20 million.

According to the Mega Millions website, the odds of matching all five numbers and the Mega number is 1 in 175,711,536.

The Mega Millions game is played in 42 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

California Lottery officials recently announced that California will officially welcome Powerball (their last jackpot reached $587.5 million) next April.
