Mega Millions Jackpot Soars To $214M, Powerball At $138M
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — There were no tickets sold with all six numbers in Friday's drawing of the multi-state Mega Millions lottery and the estimated jackpot for Tuesday's drawing will grow to at least $214 million.
One ticket each with five numbers, but missing the Mega number, was sold in Massachusetts and New York and are both worth $1 million.
The Mega Millions numbers drawn were 3, 14, 15, 25, 48 and the Mega number was 8. The estimated jackpot was $194 million.
The drawing was the 17th since the last time a ticket with all six numbers was sold.
The Mega Millions game is played in 44 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Draws for the $1 game are Tuesdays and Fridays. The Mega Millions jackpot starts at $15 million and climbs every time there is no winner. The record jackpot went to $656 million in March 2012.
Meanwhile, the jackpot for Saturday's Powerball game is $138 million.
Powerball is played in 44 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Draws for the $2 game are Wednesdays and Saturdays. Powerball starts at $40 million. The record jackpot reached $590 million in May 2013.
