Mega Millions Jackpot Climbs To $45M
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — No tickets matched all six numbers in Friday's Mega Millions draw so the jackpot for Tuesday climbs to an estimated $45 million.
Three tickets -- two sold in North Carolina and one in South Carolina -- had five numbers, but didn't have the Mega number and are each worth $250,000, a California Lottery official announced.
The numbers drawn Friday were 2, 44, 48, 50, 52 and the Mega number was 3. The estimated jackpot was $37 million.
The drawing was the fifth since the last time a ticket with all six numbers was sold.
The odds of matching all five numbers and the Mega number is 1 in 175,711,536, according to the Mega Millions website. The overall chance of winning a prize is 1 in 40.
Mega Millions is played in 42 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
