Mega Million Numbers Selected For $242M Jackpot
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Your 2010 might have been miserable. But if you bought a Mega Millions ticket for tonight's draw and had 10, 12, 13, 35, 56 and the Mega number of 9 on one ticket, you're ending 2010 with 242 million reasons why it wasn't that bad of a year after all.
The jackpot, estimated at $242 million, was the largest since May.
If no tickets match those six numbers, the first Mega Millions jackpot of 2011 will rise to approximately $290 million, according to a California Lottery official.
That would surely be a great way to start any year.
Tonight's drawing was the 15th in a row without six numbers matching. The last winning ticket was November 9 when one winner in Ohio pocketed $25 million.
The odds of matching all six numbers is 1 in (hold for it) 175,711, 536, according to the Mega Millions Web site.
The game is played in 41 states and the District of Columbia.
