McDonald Supsension Not Justified

(CBS) -- USC Safety T.J. McDonald has been suspended by the Pac-12 for his high hit on Stanford's Chris Owusu on Saturday night at the Coliseum.

McDonald will sit out the first half on Friday night against the struggling Colorado Buffaloes.

But the hit should not warrant a suspension, as Lane Kiffin called it ,"a bang-bang play."

McDonald has been penalized enough for the "bang-bang" play.

He received a 15-yard penalty on a pass that was not catchable, giving the Cardinal a first down, which turned into the tying touchdown with 38 seconds left.  Stanford won the game in triple overtime.

McDonald has had his share of 15-yard penalties this season, none at  worse time than this.

The problem may be with the rule, the former Oaks Christian HS star Owusu lowered his body as McDonald came in with the hit, creating a "high-hit."

Kiffin, like every other coach doesn't understand what you can do in a situation like that, certainly not suspend someone for a conference game.
