Foster is vetoing part of the Long Beach budget approved last week so spending can be trimmed
nearly $3 million, with one percent cuts to every general fund department, including police and fire.

The City council has already approved a pared down budget to eliminate an $18.5 million general fund deficit. That budget eliminated dozens of police positions and forced rotating closures

The Long Beach Press-Telegram says Foster released a statement Sunday saying he's cutting an additional $2.7 million from the general fund because of revenue uncertainties. The $380 million general fund pays for basic services.
