'May Day' Rallies To Cause Traffic Delays Throughout Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — "May Day" rallies will cause traffic delays throughout Los Angeles Tuesday.
Travelers have also been advised to arrive early at LAX, as Century Boulevard will be closed from noon to 4 p.m.
While fewer demonstrators are expected this year, more than 10,000 immigrant rights activists will be marching throughout the city.
Four groups will march throughout the city before converging at 6th and Main streets in downtown Los Angeles for a 7 p.m. rally at Pershing Square.
Traffic is expected to be affected from Figueroa to Alameda and Cesar Chavez to Interstate 10.
Driver should avoid the following streets, which are categorized by area:
WEST
Rally: 10 AM — Wilshire & Ocean
11:30 AM — Wilshire and Federal (Veterans Affairs, Federal Building, UCLA)
12 PM — Rodeo Drive & Santa Monica Blvd. (Beverly Hills)
12:30 PM — Wilshire & La Brea (Bank of America)
1:30 PM — 6th St & Alvarado (MacArthur Park)
2 – 2:30 PM — 6th St & Main St (border of Skid Row)
EAST
Rally: 10 am – Chavez/Atlantic, ELAC/Belvedere Park
11:30am: Chavez/Obregon Park
12 p.m. – 12:30pm: Obregon Park
12:30 pm: 1st street/Mariachi Plaza
1 pm – 1:30pm: Mariachi Plaza
1:30pm: Metro/Union Station
1:50: Union Station/Placita Olvera, 6th and Main St
2 – 2:30 PM — 6th St & Main St (border of Skid Row)
SOUTH
Rally: 10 AM — CSU Dominguez Hills
11:15 AM — 112th & Central (near Maxine Waters Employment Prep Center)
11:45 AM — 103rd & Central (Ted Watkins Park)
12:30 PM — 41st & Central
