Mattingly Calls Puig's Quick Recovery "Miraculous"

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig was hoping to return for the National League Championship Series, but it looks like he could return in time for the beginning of the playoffs.

Puig was in Camelback Ranch on Wednesday rehabbing in a simulated game, and according to reports, is running at 100% speed.

"Three days ago, he was running at 80% and having pain," manager Don Mattingly said.

"And then all of a sudden, he's going 100% and feels fine. It's been pretty miraculous, for me," he added.

Puig even worked on defense in the outfield on Thursday, but no decision has been made as to whether or not the Dodgers star will be on the roster for the NLDS against the New York Mets.

His recovery and ability to get back on track in the next couple days will determine his eligibility for the NLDS.

Puig has missed the past 33 games due to a left hamstring injury.

The NLDS begins on Friday, October 9th.
