Man's Estranged Partner Accused Of Sending Nude Photo Of Teacher To Hundreds Of His Students
PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — The estranged partner of a Pasadena high school science teacher is accused of unlawfully accessing the man's account and sending hundreds of nude photos to students and adults on his email list.
The emails contained a nude photo of John Muir High School teacher Richard Rosa.
After an investigation, it was determined that Rosa was out of the country at the time the emails were generated.
Authorities determined Rosa's estranged partner, David A. Galvan, 38, accessed Rosa's account and sent the emails because he was angry over their relationship ending.
In addition to sending the email to students, Galvan also reportedly sent the photo to other teachers, staffers and a member of the board of education. Some reports said there may have been as many as 287 recipients to the emails. The subject line reportedly said "Enjoy."
On July 24, 2014, a complaint was filed with the LA County DA's Office, which issued a $110,000 arrest warrant against Galvan for false impersonation, identity theft, internet/electronic impersonation and obscene matter. The first two counts involve felonies, while the second two are misdemeanors.
Officials said Galvan learned he was wanted by police and that he fled to Oregon.
With the assistance of the U.S. Marshal's Office, Galvan was detained Oct. 21 in Hillsboro, Ore.
Galvan waived an extradition hearing and was transported Wednesday to the Pasadena City Jail.
He remains in custody after being transferred to the LA County Jail.
Rosa has been a teacher at the school since 2007. Hundreds of students signed a petition to keep Rosa's job.
