Man Suspected Of Kidnapping, Sexually Assaulting Woman Outside Fullerton Nightclub Arrested
FULLERTON (CBSLA.com) — A 32-year-old man suspected of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman outside of a nightclub has been arrested, police said on Friday.
According to the Fullerton Police Department, Nelson Mauricio Lunaty Garcia was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and sexual assault.
The incident unfolded around midnight on Sept. 3, located in the parking lot of In-Cahoots nightclub.
According to police, a woman was approached by Garcia who posed as a police officer or security guard as she left the nightclub.
The victim thought she was being arrested as he bound her and placed her in the back of what appeared to be an undercover police vehicle.
Officers explained Garcia allegedly drove the woman around Fullerton and eventually parked his vehicle in the Skyline area of the city.
He told the woman that if she cooperated she would be released.
Minutes later, Garcia is accused of forcibly sexually assaulting the woman.
Following the assault, he drove her back to the parking lot of the nightclub and released the victim.
According to police, she did not initially report the incident to authorities.
However, when her friends went to report the incident to management at In-Cahoots, a vehicle that matched the suspect description was seen in the parking lot.
Officers were called to the scene, and an investigation began.
During a preliminary investigation, a loaded firearm was located within Garcia's vehicle.
Detectives believe there may be additional victims.
The investigation is ongoing.
